DAY 1: Nairobi to Gilgil

Arise early in time to meet your tour guide, who will meet and assist you at an agreed and well communicated pick-up point (pick-up time is 7.45 am). Depart northwest for Gilgil Town in Nakuru County. Transfer to the Kariandusi Museum. Visit the museum. The museum and pre-historic site lies on the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley and is located at a distance of approximately 120 kms northwest of Nairobi and 2 kms to the east of Lake Elmentaita (also known as Lake Elementaita). Attractions at the pre-historic site include a nature trail, an archaeological site, a museum exhibition hall, a campsite, a picnic site, the gorge, a monumental church building and bird watching. Proceed to the Soysambu Conservancy. Transfer to your Gilgil/ Lake Elmentaita lodge for lunch. Afternoon spent game viewing at the conservancy. The Soysambu Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that works to conserve the Soysambu Estate as a traditional wildlife area. The conservancy is located along the lake and is bordered by the Lake Nakuru National Park to the west, the volcanoes of the Ol Doinyo Eburru Forest to the south and the Menengai Caldera/ Crater to the north. Consisting of 48,000 acres of diverse ecological diversity, the conservancy is home to over 450 bird species (i.e. 28% of the world’s population of lesser flamingos) and 10,000 mammals (50 species). Return to your Gilgil/ Lake Elmentaita camp/ lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Pelican Lodge/ Sleeping Warrior Lodge.

Gilgil to Nakuru to Nairobi

Breakfast at 7.30 am and depart with your packed lunch for the Lake Nakuru National Park. Full day spent at the park. Attractions/ activities at the park include a game drive, game viewing, a scenic picnic lunch, bird watching, Lake Nakuru, greater and lesser flamingos, wildlife, view-points (Lion Hill, Baboon Cliff and Out of Africa), hills (Enasoit, Honeymoon, Lion Hill ridge etc.), Makalia waterfalls, scenic views and unique vegetation (about 550 different plant species). Having concluded your safari, embark on a journey back to Nairobi. The drop-off point is the same as the pick-up point.
