DAY 1: Nairobi to Nakuru to Baringo

Arise early in time to meet your tour guide, who will meet and assist you at an agreed and well communicated pick-up point (pick-up time is 7.00am). Depart north west for Baringo County. En route is a brief stopover at View Point for an amazing view of the Great Rift Valley. Proceed to Nakuru County. Transfer to a Nakuru hotel (en route) for lunch. Depart for Baringo County. Transfer to your Baringo camp/ lodge. Afternoon/ evening spent at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Baringo Island Camp/ Samatian Island Lodge.


DAY 2: Baringo

Breakfast at 7.30 am and proceed to the park. Enjoy a refreshing and scenic one hour boat ride at Lake Baringo. Lake Baringo, is, after Lake Turkana, the most northern of the Rift Valley lakes, with a surface area of about 130 squared kms (50 sq mi) and an elevation of about 970 metres (3,180 ft). Attractions at the park include the lake that is one of the freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley in Kenya, the other being Lake Naivasha, over 470 recorded bird species, occasionally including migrating flamingos, a Goliath heronry located on a rocky islet in the lake known as ‘Gibraltar’. The lake is an invaluable habitat for seven fresh water fish species, a habitat for various fauna species such as the hippo, Nile crocodile, among other mammals, amphibians, reptiles and the invertebrate communities, several small islands at the lake, the largest being the Ol Kokwe Island, an extinct volcanic centre related to the Korosi volcano to the north of the lake, that has several hot springs and fumaroles, some of which have precipitated sulphur deposits. Transfer to your Baringo camp/ lodge for lunch. Afternoon/ evening spent at leisure. Activities include a lakeshore cruise (at a supplement), Ruko Community Wildlife Conservancy (a lakeshore cruise & a guided nature/ bush/ bird walk) (at a supplement & excluding the conservancy entry fees), a cultural visit (visit the local Njemps tribes) (at a supplement), canoe around the island (at a supplement), fishing (extra charges may apply), excursions further afield (Lake Nakuru National Park, Sibiloi National Park, Lake Turkana, Lake Bogoria National Reserve etc.) (at a supplement), swimming and relaxing by the pool. In the evening, enjoy a sundowner (at a supplement) (where applicable). Return to your Baringo camp/ lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Baringo Island Camp/ Samatian Island Lodge.


DAY 3: Baringo to Nairobi

Breakfast at 6.30 am and depart with your packed lunch for Nakuru Town. Proceed to the Lake Nakuru National Park. Full day spent at the park. Attractions/ activities at the park include a game drive, game viewing, a scenic picnic lunch, bird watching, Lake Nakuru, greater and lesser flamingos, wildlife, view-points (Lion Hill, Baboon Cliff and Out of Africa), hills (Enasoit, Honeymoon, Lion Hill ridge etc.), Makalia waterfalls, scenic views and unique vegetation (about 550 different plant species). Proceed to Café Ubuntu. Enjoy a refreshing 4.00 o’clock cup of cappuccino whilst marveling at the scenic views of Mount Longonot, Mount Margaret, Mount Kenton and the surrounding Kijabe Hills. Get to also tour and learn more about the ‘Ubuntu Craft Centre’. Having concluded your safari, embark on a journey back to Nairobi. The drop-off point is the same as the pick-up point.
