DAY 1: Nairobi to Samburu

Arise early in time to meet your tour guide, who will meet and assist you at an agreed and well communicated pick-up point (pick-up time is 7.00 am). Proceed north to Mount Kenya region. Transfer to the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club/ Soames Hotel & Jack’s Bar/ Sportsmans Arms Hotel in Nanyuki Town for lunch. En route is a brief stopover at the equator. Proceed further north to the Samburu National Reserve. The reserve is located at a distance of 117.7 kms from Nanyuki Town. Transfer to your Samburu camp/ lodge. Upon arrival at your Samburu camp/ lodge is an optional karibu (welcome) alcoholic/ non alcoholic drink (where applicable). Afternoon spent at leisure. Activities include a guided bush/ nature walk (at a supplement), a visit to a local Samburu village/ a cultural visit (at a supplement), a guided bird walk (at a supplement), bird watching, flying safaris (at a supplement), traditional Samburu entertainment (extra charges may apply), swimming and relaxing by the pool. Evening spent game viewing at the reserve. Return to your Samburu camp/ lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Game Lodge/ Samburu Sopa Lodge/ Sentrim Samburu Lodge.

DAY 2: Samburu

Breakfast at 7.30 am and proceed to the reserve. Enjoy a refreshing morning game drive at the reserve. Attractions at the reserve include the Ewaso Ng’iro River meaning brown water, rich history associated with the conservationists George and Joy Adamson, acacia trees, riverine forests, thorn trees, grassland vegetation, Kamunyak – a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves and diverse wildlife such as the generuk, the endangered Grevy’s zebra and the reticulated giraffe, oryx, Masai lion, Tanzanian cheetah, leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, hippo, Olive baboon, Grant’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck, Kirk’s dik dik, large numbers of the Nile crocodiles basking along the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River and over 350 bird species. Return to your Samburu camp/ lodge for lunch. Proceed to the Shaba National Reserve. Transfer to your Samburu camp/ lodge. Afternoon spent at leisure. Activities at the camp include a guided bush walk (extra charges may apply), a visit to a local Borana village/ a cultural visit (extra charges may apply), bird watching, game viewing at the camp, swimming and relaxing by the pool. Evening spent at the camp/ game viewing at the reserve whilst enjoying a sundowner and watching a wonderful Samburu sunset. Return to your Samburu camp. Dinner and overnight at the Joy’s Camp.

DAY 3: Samburu

Breakfast at 7.30 am and proceed to the reserve. Enjoy a refreshing morning game drive at the reserve. Attractions at the reserve include a dramatic scenery that includes river-side forests, scattered woodlands, dry grasslands dominated by the Shaba Hill volcano, isolated hills, springs, umbrella thorn acacia woodland, bush land dominated by commiphora, alkaline grasslands, open areas of lava rock that contain scattered patches of grass and shrubs, rich history associated with the conservationists George and Joy Adamson, the reserve was the setting for the book and film ‘Born Free’, for the film ‘Out of Africa’ and for the reality show ‘Survivor Africa’, diverse wildlife such as the Beisa oryx, the endangered reticulated giraffe and the Grevy’s zebra, generuk, Somali ostrich, herds of elephants, big cats, buffalo, waterbuck and diverse bird species. Return to your Samburu camp for lunch. Proceed to the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Transfer to your Samburu lodge. Afternoon spent at leisure. Activities at the lodge include a visit to a local Samburu village/ a cultural visit (extra charges may apply), health and wellness (spa treatments at the Massage Parlor) (at a supplement), swimming and relaxing by the pool. Evening spent game viewing at the reserve. Return to your Samburu lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Simba Lodge.

DAY 4: Samburu to Nairobi

Breakfast at 7.30 am and proceed to the reserve. Enjoy a refreshing morning game drive at the reserve. Attractions at the reserve include a narrow band of riverine forests along the Ewaso Ng’iro River, acacia tortilis woodland, large stretches of bush land dominated by commiphora, exposed lava rock with scattered grass and shrubs, alkaline grasslands with occasional springs and swamps, diverse wildlife such as the endangered Grevy’s zebra and the reticulated giraffe, Grant’s gazelle, African bush elephant, oryx, generuk, African buffalo, Masai lion, African leopard, Tanzanian cheetah, spotted hyena, Somali ostrich and over 350 recorded bird species. Return to your Samburu lodge for lunch. Having concluded your safari, embark on a journey back to Nairobi. The drop-off point is the same as the pick-up point.
